Our Purpose (since our founding on August 10, 1976) is to help rehabilitate people who have had colostomy, ileostomy or urostomy surgery caused by disease, birth defects or injury. There are approximately 1,500,000 ostomates in North America.

Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every other month (February, April, June, August, October, December).  Meetings include a mutual aid session during which ostomy management ideas are exchanged and questions are answered by experienced ostomates. Some meetings have special speakers such as medical advisors and enterostomal therapy (ET) nurses. Other meetings feature ostomy product representatives who show us what’s new on the market.

Meetings are open to all interested persons.

Visiting Service (including phone visits) is provided without charge, pre-operatively or post-operatively, to prospective or new ostomates in the hospital or at home upon the request from the doctor, nurse, family member or the patient themselves. Well adjusted ostomates are trained as volunteer visitors.
